Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix 2013
Ready to race in 12H of Hungary
2011. May 13. 16:42
There is only a little bit more than one week to go before the lights go green for the fourth running of the 12H of Hungary, the endurance race for GTs, touring cars and 24H specials at the beautifully located Hungaroring Grand Prix circuit, organised by Dutch agency CREVENTIC in close co-operation with the DNRT. Practice sessions will take place on Saturday, May 21st, whilst the race gets underway on Sunday, May 22nd, at 10.00 am and ends exactly twelve hours later.

The weather has been excellent in the last few weeks and the forecast for next week is quite good, too, so everything is set for a great weekend of racing at one of Europe’s most beautiful circuits. “Some teams have withdrawn their entries at the last minute, so the field is not really big, but experience from previous years at the Hungaroring has learned us that even with a small number of competitors, we can still have a nice race”, says Gerrie Willems on behalf of CREVENTIC.

Everybody involved is curious to find out who will follow in the footsteps of Schubert Motorsport, the winners of the first two editions in 2008 and 2009, and Lechner Racing, the winners of last year’s race. Serious contenders for victory include Hungarian outfit Bovi Motorsport with its rather exotic Brokernet sportscar, the Belgian VDS Racing Adventures team with its brawny Ford Mustang or its compatriots of the Speedlover team with its regular Porsche. The outsiders include Red Camel Racing with the Audi C-R8 and Marcos Racing International with its brand-new Lotus Evora, powered by a four-litre engine.

Last year, Spanish team Monlau Competición took the spoils in the A3T class in Hungary with the SEAT Leon Supercopa and the Spaniards are back to defend their crown, but they will certainly be facing stiff opposition from the likes of British team Povey Motorsport (BMW M3 E46) and Dutch outfit Jordans.nl (Saker 3.0 TDI). The Danish Sally Racing team is again aiming at a class win in A2 with its Renault Clio, but they are up against their compatriots Jet Black Racing with a similar car and the diesel-engined cars entered by TTC Racing from Switzerland and Marcos Racing 2.

All the on-track action can be followed on the website live.24hseries.com with live timing and scoring, up-to-the-minute race and pit notes, webcam footage and photos and videos. Topspeed TV is present, too.
