Jenson Button believes women will race in F1 again

Jenson Button said that he believes a woman will drive in Formula One again but that will only happen if they are given more opportunities at an earlier age. Following Maria de Villota's crash at Duxford last year, Susie Wolff remains the only female on a team's driver line-up in Formula One in her role as Williams reserve driver. The last woman to take part in a grand prix weekend was Giovanna Amati in 1992 but she failed to qualify for a race, and Button believes women will only succeed if there are more chances for them at the start of their careers.

Renault close to new 2014 deals

The engine manufacturer is set to continue its successful partnership with three-time constructors' champions Red Bull, while it also announced over the Monaco Grand Prix weekend that it would be supplying sister team Toro Rosso from next year. This year it has also been providing engines to Lotus, Williams and Caterham, though Williams also confirmed in Monaco that it would switch to Mercedes next season.

Montezemolo hopes FIA prosecutes Mercedes

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo is hoping the FIA's International Tribunal will prosecute Mercedes for its private test with Pirelli in order to maintain a level of "professionalism" in Formula One.

Mercedes executive director Toto Wolff says the team "cannot do any more" ahead of its appearance in front of the FIA's International Tribunal. Both Mercedes and Pirelli will face the tribunal in Paris on Thursday as the FIA investigates whether they broke the regulations by carrying out a tyre test with a 2013 car in Spain last month. It's the first time the International Tribunal has been used for such a case, with a number of severe punishments potentially available to the FIA if it finds Mercedes guilty of breaching regulations.

Vettel to stay at Red Bull until end of 2015

Sebastian Vettel has extended his Red Bull contract until the end of 2015, putting an end to speculation he might join Ferrari next season. Last year rumours surfaced that he had signed a pre-contract with rivals Ferrari but both Red Bull and Vettel denied the stories. The three-time world champions have now put an end to the speculation, at least in the immediate future, by confirming Vettel will stay until the end of 2015.
